Congratulations! You’ve made it to the grand finale of your homebuying journey. This is the moment where all the planning, searching, and negotiating comes together… and you officially become a homeowner.
Our closing appointment will take place at the title or escrow company, where we’ll review and sign the final paperwork to transfer ownership into your name. Here’s how to prepare so the process goes smoothly:
What to Bring
-
Valid Photo Identification – Each borrower should bring at least one valid government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license, passport, or non-driver ID.
-
Cashier’s Check or Wire Transfer – Have your closing funds ready in the form of a cashier’s check or via a pre-arranged wire transfer. These funds will go directly to the title or escrow company.
-
Your Spouse (If Applicable) – Even if your spouse isn’t on the title, there may be documents requiring their signature, so it’s best to have them present.
Who You Might See at Closing
Along with you, there may be a few other key people in the room:
-
Closing Agent – Oversees the signing process and ensures everything is in order.
-
Title Company Representative – Confirms the title is clear and ready for transfer.
-
Loan Officer – If applicable, they may attend to finalize your financing details.
The Signing Process
You’ll be signing several important documents—such as the property deed, loan agreements, closing disclosure, and escrow instructions. Once everything is signed, the escrow officer will collect all documents and funds, then notify your lender.
The lender will release the loan proceeds, and the deed will be officially recorded with the county… that’s the magic moment when the home is legally yours.
The Best Part
As soon as we get confirmation that the recording is complete, I’ll place the keys to your new home in your hand. At that moment, you’re not just closing on a house—you’re opening the door to a brand-new chapter in your life.
Congratulations… you are officially a homeowner!
